In the 1850's, Cold Spring was a
bustling Hudson River town. Commerce was booming, and the West Point
Foundry was at its peak.
45 Main St, now The Kittleman House
Bed and Breakfast, was one of many small hotels catering to the foundry
workers and their "friends". Two industrious ladies, Phoebe and
Elizabeth owned and ran the hotel, enjoying a very lucrative business.
Even though Cold Spring was, and still is, a small village, business in
the hotel was successful. We like to think 45 Main Street is happy
to be returning to its original use as a hotel!!
